We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Priority Health, Cigna, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and McLaren among others. So please call to see if we par with your insurance. There are also situations that we may not par, but are willing to work with you in a number of ways. We accept Medicaid in Emmet County only, however there is a monthly limit to accepted patients. We also accept self-pay.

We see patients from birth through 18 years of age if no longer in school. Otherwise, we will continue to see our established patients through their undergraduate education.

We do not see patients in the hospital. Newborns are seen for the first time after their discharge home, generally on day 5 of life.

Well Visits

Well Child Visits are regularly scheduled visits to discuss age-appropriate development, growth, nutrition, update family and social history, and educate on age-related issues. Your child’s immunization record will be reviewed at this time and vaccines will be given following recommended CDC and AAP schedules. In our practice it is mandatory that you adhere to receiving all required immunizations as outlined by these schedules.

Well Visits are not a time to discuss ongoing concerns. Any care provided outside of a standard well check-up will be documented and billed separately, which may not be covered by your insurance and therefore you will be responsible for the charge. Also, please keep in mind that this has the potential to delay care to other patients that day.

Recommended Well Visits include: Newborn (Day 4-7), 2 Weeks, 2 Months, 4 Months, 6 Months, 9 Months, 12 Months, 15 Months, 18 Months, 24 Months, and annually thereafter.

Sick Visits

Please call as early as possible in the day to schedule a sick visit. Your concerns are often triaged with our nurses to determine appropriate next step including how quickly to be seen, type of visit that is needed (in person or telehealth), and even if emergency care is appropriate.

We guarantee same day sick visits for urgent symptoms and issues. Ongoing issues will be scheduled accordingly, but often on a future date.

Unless previously arranged with our staff, please do not ask us to work in other family members at the time of your visit. We have allotted time appropriately and we want to avoid delays of care for all of our patients.

Behavioral Health

Visits for behavioral health (i.e. ADHD, depression, anxiety, school problems) generally require extended appointment times and therefore may not be available for a few weeks. In many cases paperwork may need to be filled out and reviewed by a provider before scheduling these appointments. This is necessary so that the patient’s needs can adequately be met at the time of the visit.

No Show Policy

We require that all visits are cancelled in a timely manner. We ask that well visits or behavior visits be cancelled 24 hours prior to your appointment time and that sick visits be cancelled at least 1 hour prior. If you are unable to do so or you simply miss your visit entirely, there is an associated charge. Please understand that if there are 3 or more no shows for a family you may be asked to leave the practice. To learn more please visit our “No-Show Policy” page.

Prescription Refills

We require 48 hour notice to complete prescription refills. There is a charge associated with refills that need to be filled any sooner than this.

Sports Forms/Health Appraisals/Other Patient Documents

Please come to your well visits with any necessary paperwork. We do not always have the paperwork on hand that you may need. In addition, any paperwork that requires a provider to complete outside of your appointment time carries a charge.
